LOVE

Writing is a solitude act, made up of one’s own research and one’s role in the relationship with others. It is an intimate confession that passes through many processes in the creation of one’s own identity. Each word is the testimony of an evolution of the moment and the movement that the hand makes while composing the sentences. Getting lost in these paths and then realizing that it has become a generous act of love that arises in the relationship between the writer and the reader, where each intertwines an intimacy with the other without even knowing each other – this is the true magic of the writing.

TO LOVE

the breaths of being

The poems in this book revolve around the word love. Poets, artists, writers, all have tried to tell of its beauty, which is different for everyone because it is linked to the uniqueness of the human being.

To love is a word that, together with life, is the most beautiful, the most universal, the most natural. It is a soft and strong word.

“When you wake up in the morning, a butterfly will come looking for you and among the fragile beats of its wings you will understand the word love”.

A GIRL

with the

SUITECASE

Literature and writing have always been my great passion. Since I was a little girl, I have been writing poems and short stories. It took a while to convince myself that maybe I should write something bigger. At the same time, I felt the need to look back in the past and find a new key to understand and interpret the tragic events that happened in my country of origin. A deeper reflection on how certain thoughts and cultures can radically change people’s lives, just as they changed me. And so, I wrote my first novel in an autobiographical key, entitled “A girl with a suitcase,” which was published by Asino d’Oro Edizioni in 2015.

I could never have imagined that the book would be a great success, it hit the hearts of many people who identified themselves with the story of little Petra, the main character of the book. The book narrates the most important episodes of her young life: her happy childhood in Marusici, the first love and the conscious discovery of sexuality; the friendship with her inseparable friend Maja, and her passion for literature. Following her apparently normal teenage life, Petra fervently raises her voice and throws herself against the injustices of the communist system in ex-Yugoslavia and its leader Tito. the book explores the obligation to a military exercise ending in tragedy against the rigid fatherly authority. In the background, the political events unfold that will lead Yugoslavia into the nightmare of an absurd war.

Projectiles like black butterflies will cut the sky of Split,

SHATTERING EVERYDAY LIFE,

certainties and dreams of Petra,

BUT NOT HER DESIRE TO LIVE

and to seek beauty in everything.

#DANCER

by Deborah D’Orta

“A woman with an identity scares the world. Because she has the power to transform rough stones into liquid gold and to be happy as she paints the trajectories of her life with the colors of the solitude of the sunrises and sunsets she meets. A woman with a identity is sovereign to one’s desire for freedom, devoted to the need for knowledge in order to be able to reject the blindness of belief.

A woman with an identity has the ability to intuit what is not visible and to reject every gesture of those who try to deny it. He loves madly, he gives himself only to those who do not want to comb their disheveled hair, to those who can hear the music in those long silences that they demand while looking at you. A woman with an identity gives birth to healthy children, born from that dance of bodies that did not aim to procreate them in the spontaneity of a desire that recognizes its own happy face in the eyes of the other. Its thick milk tastes of honey and love. A woman with an identity is the mother of men capable of separating himself from her breast to love women who are free to dance.”

An extract from the preface I wrote for the beautiful book entitled “Dancer,, written by Deborah d’Orta and published by Buckfast Edizioni.

The idea of this book comes from the author’s great passion for dance who, to pay homage to this discipline, interviewed ten internationally renowned dancers: Mariafrancesca Garritano, Sabrina Brazzo, Petra Conti, Letizia Giuliani, Anbeta Toromani, Virna Toppi, Beatrice Carbone, Mara Galeazzi, Luisa Ieluzzi and Pompea Santoro.

All have been told, without reservations, each with its own story and with its own particularities; their beauty, their sweetness, their strength, determination and courage, transpire from every single word of this book that takes the reader on a fascinating journey into the world of dance, capable of giving those same emotions that we feel when, as a spectator, we watch them dance.
